RSON Delegation Visits the School of Nursing

On May 24th-25th, Associate Professor Poolsuk Janepanish Visudtibhan, Director of  Ramathibodi School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University(RSON), in Thailand, along with Assistant Professor Streerut Thadakant and Assistant Professor Jumpee Granger, visited the School of Nursing, Tongji Medical College of HUST.

On the afternoon of May 24th, Mao Jing, Dean of the School of Nursing, Liu Yilan, Vice Dean of the School of Nursing and Wang Haikun, Manager of the Division for Medical Exchange and Collaboration for the Office of International Affairs met with the delegation. Xu Hui, Chair of the Committee of the School of Nursing presided over the meeting.

In her speech, Mao Jing extended a warm welcome to the RSON delegation, pointing out that the visit marked an important exchange between the two nursing schools, which is of great significance to deepen the friendship and strengthen the practical cooperation. Dean Mao also stated that the RSON is an influential nursing school in Thailand and Southeast Asia which is the one of the important global partners of the School of Nursing. She expected to expanding the fields and make positive contributions to the nursing discipline between China and Thailand with the joint efforts.

Poolsuk Janepanish Visudtibhan expressed her gratitude for School of Nursing’s warm reception and hospitality. She pointed out that the School of Nursing, Tongji Medical College of HUST has such a strong relationship with RSON and was high on the list of places was wished to visit when they made the plan to visit China. It is hoped to expand the collaborative efforts, such as exchange lectures in some classes, or future research collaborations.  

Wang Haikun recalled the memorable experience of Vice President Chen Jianguo leading HUST delegation visit to Mahidol University back in March. She stressed that the signing of the Key Partnership Agreement between HUST and Mahidol University marked a new chapter of cooperation, which also laid a favorable foundation for this return visit. Nursing student exchanging is an important part of the Student Exchange Agreement endorsed between Tongji Medical College of HUST and Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. It’s expected that students from both nursing schools would be the first beneficiaries of the agreement and participate in the exchange activities this summer.

Vice Director Jumpee Granger gave an introduction of RSON.

Fang Jialin, the International Affairs Secretary presented the history, faculty, research expertise and important initiatives of internationalization construction of the School of Nursing.

In the discussion session, the representatives exchanged views on student exchange programs, master's dual mentorship program, joint doctoral training, mutual visits of clinical nurses, mutual appointment of teachers and scientific research cooperation.

On the morning of May 25th, the delegation visited the affiliated Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College, HUST and met with Huang Kai, Vice President of Union Hospital, Gao Feng, Director of the International Exchange Office, Director Liu Yilan and Deputy Director Geng Li of Nursing Department. The delegation paid a visit to the Cardiovascular Surgery ICU, Geriatrics, Obstetrics and Pediatric Hematology wards.

Afterwards, the delegation visited the cardiovascular internal medicine ward of the affiliated Tongji Hospital of Tongji Medical College, HUST. Thereafter, having a meeting with Liu Yu, Deputy Director of the Nursing Department of Tongji Hospital to discuss clinical nursing research and teaching.
