From October 30thto November 1st, 2020，the Chinese Nursing Association National Nursing Education Seminar and the 11th Nursing College and University Presidents’Forum was held in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Wu Xinjuan, the head of council and Jiang Xiaoying, the professional committees chairman of the Chinese Nursing Association attended the meeting. At the meeting, the Student Working Committee was established. Zhang Zeyu, the doctoral student who matriculated into the School of Nursing at HUST in 2017, was elected as the chairman. Alongside this, the first all-member working meeting was held, which approved the "Administrative Measures for the Chinese Nursing Association Student Working Committee."

The Student Working Committee was established by the Chinese Nursing Association to connect with the International Nursing Association Student Leadership Group. It aims to accelerate the reserve of nursing talents in our country, strengthen the influence of nursing students and youth groups in the context of organizational decision-making and global health policy dialogue, as well as to promote the sustainable development of nursing disciplines.
Full-time enrolled students, and some young teachers representing nationally qualified medical colleges and universities, collaborated to form the 27th Chinese Nursing Association Student Working Committee. Members of the Committee were selected on the basis of individual application, school recommendation, expert reviews, and Head Council Office approval. After the approval processed, the committee includes 102 total students, ranging from doctoral students, master students, undergraduates and vocational students as well as 20 young teachers. The Standing Committee covers 4 teacher chairmen (rotating system), one student chairman, one teacher secretary and one student secretary respectively. Zhang Zeyu stood out among many candidates and was successfully elected as the student chairman.

The capabilities of the newly elected national academic organization chairman reflects the excellence of our nursing education in recent years. This event also conducive with the goal of further promoting cooperation between our school and the Chinese Nursing Association, as well as the goal to strengthen the nationwide influence of HUST nursing disciplines. In the future, the School of Nursing will continue to use its connections in order to strive towards building a first-class nursing discipline and cultivate nursing successors in the coming years.[1]
[1]ZHANG Zeyu, is currently studying to obtain his PhD at the school of nursing, where he has already received his bachelor's and master's degree. His supervisor is Prof. Mao Jing, dean of the School of Nursing. From 2018 to 2019, he was funded by the China Scholarship Council for a one-year joint Ph.D. education in the School of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University. During his time in the School of Nursing at HUST, with their funding, he visited internationally renowned universities such as the National Institutes of Health, New York University, Kanazawa Medical University and The University of Hong Kong. He has published 5 papers in both Chinese and English. He also participated in book publication as an associate editor. He is known for his speeches given at the international congress, the ICN congress for example. His work has earned him the Graduate-Student National Scholarship and Doctoral-Student National Scholarship. Additionally, he is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau. On top of that, he was hired as a reviewer for the International Journal of Nursing Studies.
