In order to enhance students' international competency, strengthen the cooperation of nursing disciplines betweenmainland and Hong Kong. From July 1 to July 26,two undergraduates from the School of Nursing successfully completed the four-week "2024 Summer Exchange Program" conducted by of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Nursing.
More than 70 students from China, Australia, Singapore and other countries and regions were invited to carry out this program.
From July 1 to July 14, students conducted discussions with students and teachers from 16 top-tier universities globally, including the National University of Singapore, La Trobe University, Peking University, Sun Yat-sen University, through the online platform. It was laying a solid foundation for the onsite study in the following weeks.
From July 15th to July 26th, two students went to Hong Kong for onsite exchanges. At the opening ceremony, Professor Justina LIU, Associate Dean of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Nursing, welcomed the nursing students from all over the world and looked forward to exchanging ideas and learning together. Justina LIU then introduced the idea of "Interprofessional Nursing Education Teamwork", "Spiritual Care", "Multicultural Integration and Growth".
Onsite exchanges constituted of academic lectures, site visits, collaborative research and cultural experiences, showcasing the style of Hong Kong's healthcare system in an all-round way. The lectures covered topics such as "Infection Control Practice in Hong Kong", "PPE Practice", and "Chinese Medicine". Students gained a deeper understanding and diversified experience of cutting-edge knowledge of health care.
Students visited the campus exhibition, mental health workshop, smart home, smart robot, holographic projection technology. They experienced the interactive teaching of mental health and the virtual hospital up closely. They also paid a visit to a number of medical institutions in Hong Kong, such as Limushu Nursing Home, Tsim Sha Tsui East Ambulance Station and Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, to learn about the elderly care system.
Students went visiting Hong Kong landmark attractions such as Central Market, Tai Kwun and the Braemar Hill Peak.
Two students from the School of Nursing stood out in the final report session, giving full play to their excellent professional ability.
