Dear fellow students and teachers:

Good morning! Welcome to the opening ceremony of 2022 Tongji Summer School!

It’s my great pleasure today to stand here and deliver this speech. My name is Zhang Wenya. I’ve just finished my undergraduate program in School of Nursing at Tongji Medical College, and I will be a master student at Peking Union Medical College this September.

First of all, I want to express my deepest gratitude to anyone who worked tirelessly to make this summer school available. Because of your hard work, we get the opportunity to delve into a series of health-related topics and courses that are lectured by prestigious professors from China and overseas universities, including health economics and policy, reproductive health, evidence-based practice, molecular and nutritional epidemiology, etc. These courses will give us a more holistic view of the medical system, which can be inspiring enough to motivate us to continue our careers in the field of healthcare research.

Secondly, I want to thank all professors for giving us lectures during this pandemic. We can’t wait to hear your opinions, experience and skills in conducting researches, practicing medicine and making health-related policies.

Additionally, I appreciate the presence of online and offline students in a time fraught with difficulties and uncertainties, as many of you continue to carry out research and experimental projects. I hope that we would find this summer school productive and precious.
