From November 24 to November 26, 2021, a training for directors of Elderly Care Institutions in Wuhan was held at Tongji Medical College. The training was commissioned by the Wuhan Civil Affairs Bureau and organized by the School of Nursing.
Hu Huacheng, Vice Dean of Tongji Medical College, mentioned in his speech at the opening ceremony that elderly care is an important livelihood work. Tongji Medical College will actively play a main role in implementing the national strategy of actively coping with the aging of the population, serving the needs of society.
He Xiaoping, director of the Department of Elderly Services of Wuhan Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau pointed out that China has entered a period of rapid development of population aging. The work of elderly care services in Wuhan is facing serious challenges. It is especially important to carry out comprehensive vocational skills training for practitioners and establish a stable and professional team as soon as possible..
The three-day training focused on the features and practice of management services of elderly care institutions, combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills. It was conducted by four modules: policy and development trend, management practice, service practice, and capacity building.
At the closing ceremony, Mao Jing, Dean of the School of Nursing, pointed out in her closing speech that she hoped the participants would apply the new knowledge to their daily management, continuously improve their service quality. She emphasized that the School of Nursing and the institutions should further strengthen cooperation and become a model for the development of theelderly care services.
